- NTSC Bars 1.1 RELEASE NOTES
-

- * Changed instruction dialog to wait for a click.
-
- WHAT IS THIS
-
- NTSC Bars 1.1 tries to be a NTSC compliant colorbar generator for your mac.
- This utility will come in handy for anyone, although it was designed for
- video production use, anyone with a color macintosh can benefit from it,
- for it is useful for setting brightness and contrast settings. I tried to get
- as close to the NTSC RS170A standard as I could.
-
- TO USE
-
- Your Monitor needs to be set to 16, 256, thousands, or millions colors
-
- Turn your monitors brightness and contrast all the way up,
- Under the red bar you will notice three small rectangles of various shades
- of dark gray, Turn the brightness back until the the first two gray strips blend. That's it.
-
- DID YOU KNOW
-
- If you are doing video production you must be careful on the colors that
- you select, even though your hardware sends out a NTSC signal, most
- hardware does not filter the signal and correct the color to be within
- NTSC legal values. For example, have you ever transferred Mac graphics to
- video tape or have seen videos, where bright blues or reds
- have a "tearing" effect? This is caused by clipping (distortion), which is
- analogous to turning a stereo up too loud and over driving your speakers
- causing distortion. Ergo, a pure digital blue signal out of your Mac is
- too strong for NTSC to deal with and it distorts causing the "tearing effect."
